Trying out Mommy and Mia apron

Sewing Project: mommy and Mia Apron
I just loved this latest pattern from Sew Much Ado. Since I also needed an apron, I got down to work. Here're the horrible pics of my nice apron. Just goes on to show what happens when you try to take
action shots of something you're wearing...in poor lighting.

My first customer pic!

Blooms And Bugs Etsy: Customer Feedback A very sweet mom bought the very first item from my etsy store last week. And Look what did she send back !!!

Isn't she the cutest thing ever?

I thought it would feel nice to have someone else wear my creations, but I never imagined it would feel this good. It was worth every minute of time I poured into this dress.

Shirred Dress

Sewing Project: Shirred Dress with Appliques
I thought of not sharing this dress because I still owe you more on the last Knit Rossette dress I showed you. But it is such a beauty, I just can't resist. So here's my first successful shirring attempt:
shirred dress with bird applique

I just added some contrasting band at the hem and shoulders to give it a pop of color. And appliqued a tiny bird. I have thought of a nice technique to finish the neckline next time, but I'll share it with you once I do it. A lot of things feel very nice in my head but look awful
when I actually sew them.

Bloomers for the little one

Sewing Baby Bloomers

Recently I checked out the book Sweet Booties by Valerie Van Arsdale Shrader from our library and tried out a few items from that. While the patterns came together really well and the final products looked good, Most of them were too big for my teeny-miny daughter. Here's a simplified bloomer that I based on the coverpage pattern. Since I have very little experience with knits, and this was my very first attempt to use walking foot. The final product is understandably less than perfect. But its still usable and the knit is very very comfy so I'm sure it will get used once the warmer weather comes along.
Do I recommend this book? Yes, if you're a beginner to intermediate level sewer. The projects are simple, things that get used daily with kids and they do have that cuteness factor which is a "Must have" in kids projects. My only advice - Pay attention to the sizing. I needed to use "Newborn" sizes for my "One and a half" year old. I don't know if she's THAT small or the sizes run THAT big.
I'll be showing off more stuff that I made based on this book in future posts.

Bathing robe for me

DIY Bath Robe
sew a bathing robe
I made a fun robe for myself last week and used up a big chunk of super soft Organic Cotton Velour that had been sitting on my shelf for a long time. The pictures didn't come out very good but it really
drapes well and is being used almost everyday. If I do it again I would make the bias tape narrower so it goes smoothly around the curved neckline.

Itsy bitsy baby dress

Sewing a Kimono Dress
sewing a kimono dress
I think I have got some issues. I just can't stop sewing itsy-bitsy dresses. Do all moms all sewing moms of little girls have that problem?
Anyhow, I can't wait to share my latest with you ( this can be an early symptom of another problem...)
For this one, I tried my hand at appliques. I ironed on some interfacing to the accent fabric and cut and sew it to the main dress.

Don't you think its cute?

Here's something I made last week. This is a jumper/dress for a very special little girl.
Don't the colors and prints just say "Spring"?
